The PRC research group, led by Prof. Partha Roy Chaudhuri, is dedicated to advancing optical fiber technologies, integrated photonics, and nonlinear optical systems through a combination of fundamental research and practical device engineering. Our research focuses on understanding the physics of light propagation in optical waveguides and translating these insights into innovative photonic components, sensors, and communication technologies. Over the years, we have made significant contributions to the design, modelling, and fabrication of fiber-optic devices, including all-fiber couplers, wavelength-division multiplexing components, wavelength filters, interferometric structures, and branching networks. We have also developed advanced numerical modelling techniques for analyzing electromagnetic wave propagation in optical fibers and waveguides with complex refractive index profiles, enabling the design of next-generation photonic devices with enhanced performance. Our recent research has demonstrated innovative fiber-optic sensing platforms for measuring magnetic fields, humidity, and stress using advanced specialty fibers and waveguide structures. In parallel, we pursue research in anisotropic and differential interference imaging, metasurface-enabled photonics, and computational electromagnetic modelling to expand the capabilities of modern optical systems.
