About

Prof. Partha Roy Chaudhuri is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. His research focuses on fiber and integrated optics, photonics, micro-structured and photonic-crystal fibers, optical waveguides, and passive, active, and nonlinear photonic devices. He has also contributed extensively to the development of fiber-optic sensors, particularly for the detection of weak electric and magnetic fields, as well as experimental biophotonics and imaging.

Prof. Roy Chaudhuri has supervised numerous Ph.D., postdoctoral, M.Tech., and M.Sc. researchers and has been actively involved in national and international research collaborations. He has also contributed to advanced optics education through teaching and the NPTEL course Modern Optics. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of India and has received the Distinguished Fellow Award of the Optical Society of India (2024).
